MR.SKELETON'S BONNY VISIT

The day started with a lot of excitement with Mr. Skeleton visiting our classroom. With the tuning in of the second line of inquiry we discussed about the skeletal system and kids were really amazed and excited to see a real skeleton in the class. They saw a video on skeleton system which was followed by a discussion about the real skeleton seeing all the bones and joints. Students even made their own little skeletons and danced on a skeleton song.
Hauntingly amazing experience it was.

                  Wow what a day!

Frying up great readers

I still find each day too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read, and all the friends I want to see.

Reading culture is what I want my students to follow religiously and for that we are trying our level best to inculcate the habit of reading good books in our kids. We have a very enriching reading corner in our class with a variety of books. Whenever students have free time they can pick a book from that corner and read it. Kids really look forward for that free time and I love  to see them sitting quietly and reading a book and then come running to me to tell me what they have read.

Books let us into their souls and lay open to us the secrets of our own.

Me And My Amazing Body

In order to understand the internal and external body parts students were given some cut outs of internal and external body parts where they have to categorize the body parts under two headings and to my surprise they did some fantastic work by actually making the category with the heading as internal body organs and external body organs. They presented their work and explained the
categorization in front of their class.

After this they were given jigsaw puzzles of different body systems which they have to assemble in groups and write the names of the parts they can see in the picture. They really enjoyed doing this and using their thinking skills joined the right pieces together.

Little Builder - Me and My blocks

‘I love doing what I am doing’ is what a new little boy Veikka from Finland in my class feels. Veikka is very new to India in fact very new to even English language and still he is trying his best to be an active part of everything happening in the class. He loves drawing and hands on activity like building different structures with blocks, puzzles and many more such things. We as a class are trying our level best to make him feel comfortable and a part of our class.

WOW.......

1st unit under the TD Theme WHO WE ARE

Central Idea – The functioning of our body systems can contribute to our well being

As a provocation for the central idea a simple disassembled object (torch) was given to the students. They have to put the object together using all the parts and no part should be left out. This activity created a lot of curiosity among the students and they were really excited doing this activity. After they have assembled the object they have to wear their Blue Thinking Hat and discuss about the importance of each part of an object which helped them to connect to the body parts and their importance.

In groups they also brainstormed about the Body Systems and came out with some great information which they shared with their friends.

Some great learning is happening in our class with all the charged up brains thinking together J
