Big Bang Experiment

We did a balloon explosion experiment to give a visual understanding of the cosmic explosion, formation of universe and planets (Earth). Students were really enthusiastic while observing this experiment and as soon as the Big Bang………………of balloon happened Oh! My God…..what excitement filled my class I just can’t express through words

Unveiling the Central Idea - Planet Earth has evolved overtime and is still changing

Students were given a jigsaw puzzle to solve with picture and words and they had to assemble the words together which unveiled the central idea on the picture of planet Earth. A kind of excitement was there in the classroom because they all wanted to be the first one to solve the puzzle and announce the statement written on the picture.

                                  It was fun…… J

2nd Unit - Earth under TD Theme "How the World Works"

We started with our second unit under the TD Theme “How the World Works” and the tuning in of the TD Theme was done by showing students some pictures of planet Earth followed by a class discussion. This session was led by Grade 2 coordinator Ms.Malini and since this was her first interaction with the kids as a teacher the kids were really excited and asked a lot many questions from her.

Indeed it was a very interactive session after which students were shown few clippings from a movie about how Planet Earth was formed after which they reflected on their learning in pairs.

Literacy Day Carnival

Finally the costume day….. And Oh! My god what fun………..all my kids looked stunning in different costumes. Some were dangerous dragons and some cute kittens. We also had the rich king and queen all flaunting their drama talent. Our classroom was full of talented actors and artists and all their work was displayed outside our class for the full primary to have a look.

                  Wow what a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LITERACY DAY CELEBRATION - DAY 4

Day 4 was full of interactions and creativity. Ms. Trivedi a story teller visited our classroom and enacted 2 beautiful stories for my kids. It was a very exciting session and the kids really enjoyed the puppet talk she did.

Students also made some beautiful book covers with imaginary stories and shared it with their friends.

CELEBRATING LITERACY WEEK (folktales from around the world)

Literacy week started with a lot of excitement and enthusiasm. Students were so eager to listen to new folktales from around the world. Day 1 of literacy week was full of reading the folktales and writing individual views using the 6 thinking hats.

Day 2 and 3 of the literacy week started with many more activities planned for the kids when they made beautiful posters and did role play and puppet show for the folktales we have read. They made some beautiful bookmarks and very expressive puppets. We also had a very enriching reading session with Ms. Monica Chopra parent of Avantika from our class where she read ‘Best Friends’ to my kids which really helped them to understand the value of friendship.

                                    Bravo……….

Wanna dance with us....

Mr. Skeleton who visited our classroom left such a strong impact on my kids that they wanted to dance like a skeleton. You tube came to my rescue when I played a skeleton song for them and wow…….they all were shaking their legs and dancing off to glory on the skeleton song.

                I am loving it……….. J
